Australia and New Zealand Approve the Use of 2′-FL Combined with GOS and/or ITF in Infant Formula Products

The combination of  2′-fucosyllactose (2′-FL) with galactooligosaccharides (GOS) and/or inulin-type fructans (ITF) as components in infant formula products was approved by Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) on December 19, 2022. The present Standard permits the inclusion of 2′-FL, GOS, and/or ITF to infant formula products individually, but not in combination with GOS or ITF. The authority will take this prohibition out of the Food Standards Code following the most recent amendment.
