Applications for Amendments to Food Standards Code Accepted by FSANZ

The Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) has issued a notification circular regarding two applications for amendments to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code. Application A1275 seeks to permit the use of transglutaminase from genetically modified Bacillus licheniformis as a processing aid in various food manufacturing processes. Application A1254 aims to extend the use of rosemary extract (E392) as a food additive (antioxidant) to additional food classes. FSANZ has completed the administrative assessment and commenced the evaluation process. The public will have an opportunity to provide comments on these applications at a later stage, as announced by FSANZ.
