South Korea issues draft regulation on standards of meat alternatives and foods for special medical purposes (FSMP)

Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS), South Korea have released two drafts open for public comments on standards of meat alternatives and new types of foods for special medical purposes (FSMP).|It also proposes to optimize the management scheme of contaminants and pesticide residues.|The proposed amendment includes:|Establishment of alternative food standards|Establishment of standards for inorganic arsenic in brown rice|Revision of age-friendly food standards and specifications|New establishment of erucic acid standard for rapeseed oil|New establishment of food types, standards and specifications for food for special medical use|Revision of table salt type classification|Revision of pesticide residue standards for agricultural products|Revision of food poisoning bacteria standards for raw foods |Reorganization of standards for application of pollutants , pesticides and veterinary drugs|The consulting periods for both drafts are upto February 20, 2023.
