New Zealand modifies import of Health Standard

Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI), New Zealand has proposed to change the import health standard for Lychee, (Litchi chinensis) imported from Thailand. The following changes are suggested to the standards to control Bactrocera dorsalis and Zeugodacus cucurbitae (syn. Bactrocera cucurbitae): 
1. Fruit pulp temperature must be maintained at 0°C or lower for 10 days, 0.56°C or lower for 11 days, 1.11°C or lower for 12 days, and 1.67°C or lower for 14 days.
2. Fruit pulp temperature maintained at either 1.0 or 1.38 °C for 17 or 20 days, respectively.
