EU authorizes bovine milk beta-lactoglobulin (β-lactoglobulin) as novel food

European Union scientific commission has done assessment on bovine milk beta-lactoglobulin (β-lactoglobulin) and considered it as safe to place in market as Novel food in accordance to the application submitted by Arla Foods Ingredients Group.|The following were added to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/2470 : |(1) Conditions under which the novel food may be used in specific category of foods like soft drinks, whey powder, milk based drinks and Foods for special medical purposes with its maximum levels of usage and other requirements.|(2) futher it adds the specifications of novel food like Microbiological criteria, Physical and chemical characteristics,Heavy metals etc.
