EU amends Regulation (EC) No 1881/2006 regarding maximum levels of hydrocyanic acid in certain foodstuffs

EU has established Maximum levels of hydrocyanic acid in following foodstuffs to ensure a high level of human health protection. They are: 1) Unprocessed whole, ground, milled, cracked, chopped linseed, with the exception of those marketed to the final consumer at maximum level of 250 mg/kg. 2) Unprocessed whole, ground, milled, cracked, chopped linseed placed on the market for the final consumer at maximum level of 150 mg/kg. 3) Unprocessed whole, ground, milled, cracked, chopped almonds placed on the market for the final consumer at maximum level of 35 mg/kg. 4) Cassava root (fresh, peeled) at maximum level of 50 mg/kg. 5) Cassava flour and tapioca flour at maximum level of 10 mg/kg.
