EU amends production rules for organic sea salt and other organic salts

Regulation (EU) 2018/848 of the European Parliament and of the Council is amended regarding the specific production guidelines for organic sea salt and other organic salts for food and feed. || In the proposal, specific production guidelines for organic sea salt and other salts for food and feed are proposed. There are specific standards for the operators, a list of practises, procedures, treatments, and methods that are not permitted, and guidelines for the labelling of organic salt. | Sea salt and other salts used in food and feed are now covered by the Union's regulations on organic production and product labelling as of January 1, 2022. According to Regulation (EU) 2018/848, organic salts must be made in conformity with the general guidelines and guiding principles of organic production. There are numerous ways to obtain salt, which is not an agricultural product.
