East African Community drafts Milled rice Specification

Development of the East African Standards has been necessitated by the need for harmonizing requirements governing quality of products and services in the East African Community. This draft East African Standard DEAS 128:2022  specifies requirements, sampling and test methods for milled rice of the varieties grown from rice grains, (Oryza spp.) intended for human consumption.  It provides the details such as definitions, General requirements, Specific requirements, Food ingredients, Sampling, Hygiene, Contaminants such as Pesticide residues, Heavy metals, Packing, Labelling. It is open for comments till 19/02/2023
