Ukraine has enacted a new law on food-contact materials and items. The new legislation becomes effective on November 20, 2022, while the majority of its provisions will take effect on November 19, 2025.
On November 19, 2022, Ukraine published in the Voice of Ukraine (No. 236) Law No. 2718-IX of November 3, 2022, "On Materials and Articles Intended for Food Contact." This comprehensive piece of law incorporates components from the following European Union (EU) regulations on food contact materials and articles:
- Directive (CE) 1935/2004 (Framework Regulation, consolidated version to March 2021)
- Regulation (EC) 2023/2006 (Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP))
- Directive (CE) 450/2009 (Active and Intelligent Materials and Articles)
