Taiwan issues draft on restrictions and labeling of trans-resveratrol produced by genetically modified Saccharomyces cerevisiaestrain EFSC4687

"Taiwan has drafted regulations on the usage restrictions and labelling of food raw material trans-resveratrol produced by fermentation of genetically modified beer yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) strain EFSC4687 as a food ingredient. The draft states: - The ingredient is limited to dietary supplements for adults, and daily consumption is 150 mg. - "" This product contains trans-resveratrol"" should be marked. - People under age of 18, Pregnant and breast feeding should avoid taking it, warning words should be given. - Physical parameters specifiations like Ash - 0.5%, Water 3.0% ,Lead 1 ppm, Arsenic -1.5 ppm, Cadmium-1 ppm and Mercury- 0.1 ppm were given."
