National Food Commission (CONAL) reviews "Correctives and Adjuvants", of the Argentine Food Code (CAA)

The "Correctives and Adjuvants" section of the Argentine Food Code (CAA), which forbids the sale and use of essences and extracts of Wormwood and Ruda as well as the elements of natural essences of Tuyona in the food industry, is reviewed by the National Food Commission (CONAL).

Given that the CAA regulates the limit of use for wormwood's active ingredient (thujone), and that Ruda (Ruta graveolens), whose use dates back to national ancestry customs and was incorporated, with a limit of use, in Article 1,294, the aforementioned resolution removed wormwood from the list of bitter substances.
