European Union employs change in conditions of use of protein extract from pig kidneys as a novel food

This application seeks to change the usage conditions of the innovative food "pig kidney protein extract" with 7% DAO, (Diamine oxidase).

The proposed change in conditions of use allows pellets, in addition to encapsulated pellets with enteric coating, as new food. The protein extract is made from homogenized pig kidneys using salt precipitation and high-speed centrifugation according to the Union list of innovative foods.

A physiologic buffer system is used to resuspend the precipitate, which is mostly proteins and 7% DAO. According to applicant DR Healthcare España, S.L., the pig kidney extract is encapsulated granules or pellets with enteric coating.
