East African Community drafts Barley for brewing Specification

Development of the East African Standards has been necessitated by the need for harmonizing requirements governing quality of products and services in the East African Community. This draft East African Standard DEAS 327:2022 specifies the requirements sampling and test methods for barley of the varieties grown from (Hordeum vulgare L.) intended for brewing. It provides the details such as definitions, General requirements, Specific requirements, Food ingredients, Sampling, Hygiene, Contaminants such as Pesticide residues, Heavy metals, Packing, Labelling. It is open for comments till Feb 2023
