ANVISA introduces new rules for labelling

National Health Surveillance Agency(ANVISA) of Brazil has given new rules for labelling which will come into effect on October 9, 2022. New products launched from October 9, 2022 must have the appropriate labels as per new rules, For products that are already on the market to date, the deadlines were provided.The changes included are:|(1) Nutriotional Information table will have only black letters and white background and declaration of total and added sugars, energy value, no.of servings per package and nutrients per 100 g or 100 ml is mandatory.|(2)the table cannot be shown in covered areas or regions that are difficult to see except for products in small packages whose labeling area less than 100 cm².|(3)A magnifying glass design was developed for display on front of the package to identify the high content of three nutrients: added sugars, saturated fats and sodium.
