Ukraine to regulate vinyl chloride monomers coming in contact with food

Ukraine has issued legislation to regulate vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) in food contact materials and articles containing polyvinyl chloride (PVC). The new law will become effective on November 19, 2025.On January 18, 2023, Ukraine’s Ministry of Health published Order No. 2199 of December 5, 2022, ‘On the approval of Requirements for materials and articles containing vinyl chloride that are intended to come into contact with food’ in the Official Journal of Ukraine. The new law implements European Directive 78/142/EEC relating to VCM in food contact materials and articles containing vinyl chloride polymers or copolymers
