Health Canada extends the use of Acetic acid in the manufacture of 2'-Fucosyllactose (2'-FL)

Health Canada's Food Directorate completed a premarket safety assessment of a food additive acetic acid to use as a crystallization aid and washing agent in the manufacture of 2'-fucosyllactose (2'-FL) at GMP. 2'-fucosyllactose (2'-FL) is used as an ingredient in infant formula and nutritional supplements for children 1 to 3 years of age (12-47 months). In the case of infant formula, residue of acetic acid not to exceed 1.0% in 2'-fucosyllactose and 12 ppm in the food as consumed.
