EFSA Launches Public Consultation on Folate Safety: Seeking Input on Tolerable Upper Intake Leve

EFSA's Nutrition and Food Innovation Unit has initiated a significant step towards ensuring the safety of folate consumption by launching a public consultation on its draft scientific opinion. The focus of this consultation is on establishing the tolerable upper intake level (UL) for folate.

Folate, a vital nutrient found in various foods, plays a crucial role in human health. However, excessive intake of folate can pose potential risks. Therefore, EFSA aims to re-evaluate the safety aspects associated with folate consumption and provide updated ULs based on the latest scientific evidence.

To participate in the consultation, interested parties are encouraged to submit their comments before June 30, 2023.
