China updates the requirements for complementary baby food

China modifies standard on Cereal-Based Complementary Foods for Infants and Young Children. Some revisions in the standard are-
-Changed the maximum value of various nutrients;
-Adjusted vitamin C from an optional nutrient to an essential nutrient, added magnesium as an optional nutrient and deleted iodine as an optional nutrient
-Modified the scope, language, definition, and explanation of product classification
-Contaminant limitations, mycotoxin limits, and pathogenic bacteria limits pertain to general standards
-Honey should not be used and the standard on the amount of added sugar has been changed;
-Updated the standard number for the test procedure
-Added information about the packaging medium
-It is open for comments till 20 March 2023.
