China updates standard for Infant Formula Food for Special Medical Purpose

China amends National Food Safety Standard General Rules for Infant Formula Food for Special Medical Purpose. The main modification are-
- Changed the terminology and meanings
- Changed the necessary ingredients
-altered or raised the minimum or maximum value of specific nutrients
-Made choline an essential element instead of an optional one
-Modifications to Appendix A include adding six categories based on the original product categories and clarifying the technical indicators
-Modifications to Appendix B include modifications to the pollutant limit index, mycotoxin limit index, and microbiological limit index.
-It is open for comments till 20 March 2023.
