US FDA proposes to update the definition of term 'Healthy'

September 29, 2022

US Food and Drug Administration has proposed to update the definition for implied nutrient content claim "Healthy" that would be consistent with the current Federal dietary guidance. The rule would be effective after 3 years allowing industry time to analyze products, update their products of product labels and to print new labels. | The claim ‘‘healthy,’’ when used in the nutritional context in food labeling, is an implied claim that the levels of the nutrients in the food are such that the food may help consumers maintain healthy dietary practices.
