Turkey changes content and/or scope of a previously-notified draft regulation on ice-cream

Delegation of Türkiye proposed changes to the Turkish Food Codex Regulation on Ice Cream Communiqué-|In Article 3, the definitions of "Condiment Substances," "Seasoned Ice Cream," "Ice Cream," and "Plain Ice Cream" have been updated, and the definitions of "Water," "Sugar," and "Eggs" have been added.
|Article 4- The following paragraphs f, g, ğ, h have been added to the Product Features section;
|- f) As long as they do not conflict with the guidelines set forth in the Horizontal Food Codex, ice creams that have been registered as geographical indications may be sold in accordance with the characteristics listed in the geographical indication registration issued under the provisions of Industrial Property Law No. 6769 dated 22/12/2016.
|-g) Products covered by this Communiqué may not contain any fat ingredients other than milk fat. The amount of vegetable oil that comes from the condiment substance used and is proportional to the condiment substance used may be present in ice creams that employ condiment substance in addition to the milk fat that should naturally be present in their composition.
|Alcohol and/or products containing alcohol are not allowed to be used in the manufacture or marketing of any goods covered by this Communiqué.
|- h) Other than protein, which may be one of the ingredients included in the definition of ice cream combination, protein-based ingredients such as collagen shall not be added to the goods covered by this Communiqué.
|There is an addition to Article 6 (Flavorings and Food Components with Flavoring Properties). 'b) Flavors derived from milk and milk products shall not be utilised in the items covered by this Communiqué.'
|Article 13- To the Transport and Storage section "(2) The temperature shall be at the highest of -18 ° C during the transit, storage, and supply of the products covered by this Communiqué to the end customer. Maximum tolerance for short-term temperature rise is 3 °C.
|Vitamins, minerals, and a few other elements have been added to Article 15.
|Coccidiostat and histomonostat residues have been added to Article 16.
| The regulation will be enforced in Dec 2023.
