Toxic Forever Chemicals Detected in Canadian Food Packaging

For the first time, dangerous per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) have been found in Canadian fast-food packaging, particularly water- and grease-repellent paper substitutes for plastic.

The University of Toronto (Canada), Indiana University (US), and University of Notre Dame (US) researchers claim that their research indicates that people are directly exposed to these so-called "forever chemicals" through food packaging, which have been linked to harmful health effects like increased cancer risk and immune system damage.
