China Industry Association Issues Voluntary Standards for DoC for FCMs

April 19, 2023

Declaration of Compliance (DoC) requirements for FCMs are optional guidelines developed by the China National Food Industry Association (CNFIA). In 1981, the China National Food Industry Association (CNFIA) was established as a self-regulatory body for the country's food sector.

For context, the General Safety Requirements for Food-Contact Materials and Articles Declaration of Compliance (DoC) are spelled out in China's GB 4806.1-2016 Standard. As such, CNFIA has released more precise, voluntary recommendations for industry to utilize when developing DoCs as required by the GB 4806.1 Standard.

The plastics industry received DoC guidelines from CNFIA in 2017. More recently, on February 10, 2023, CNFIA issued two voluntary group standards on DoCs for food-contact materials:

1T/CNFIA 162-2022 General Rules for Declaration of Compliance of Food Contact Materials and Articles
2T/CNFIA 163-2022 Requirements for Declaration of Compliance of Adhesives for Food Contact Materials and Articles
