The Thai Food and Drug Administration (Thai FDA) of the Ministry of Public Health (MOPH) is responsible for regulating food products under the Food Act. The main regulation controlling all foods in Thailand is the Food Act B.E. 2522 (1979), which provides the Government & its officials with the authority to control domestic production, imports, and exports of food products for sale, as well as provides the criteria and penalties for food business in Thailand. The Food Act classifies foods into three (03) main categories as follows:
- Specially Controlled Foods
- Standardized Foods
- Other Foods
- Foods that must bear Standard Labels
- Other General Foods
