Thailand: Kratom Act came into effect; Prohibits sale of kratom products to children, pregnant women

On August 27, 2022, Thailand's Ministry of Health announced that as per Section 24 and 25 of the The Kratom Act, a person or an entity is prohibited from selling cottage (Kratom) leaves or food in accordance with the law on food with kratom leaves as raw materials or ingredients to underaged children (who are over eighteen years of age) and pregnant women. A penalty upto thirty thousand Thai Baht will be charged from the violators. The law also prohibits the import and export of kratom leaves without approval from the Narcotics Control Board.
