DSM Food Specialties B.V. submitted studies and scientific data for the authorisation of a new food enzyme, 3-Phytase, from Aspergillus niger strain NPH. EFSA will check the relevance of the data for risk assessment and regulatory compliance.

On 19th May 2023, FSANZ published administrative assessment report on cellulase from genetically modified aspergillus niger to be used as a processing aid in brewing of beer and in distilled alcohol production.
Schedule 18 Processing aids would allow a genetically modified strain of Aspergillus niger expressing Trichoderma reesei cellulase.
DSM Food Specialties B.V. produces the dietary enzyme endo-polygalacturonase ((1-4)d-galacturonan glycanohydrolase; EC 3.1.15) using the genetically altered Aspergillus niger strain EPG. ||
