FSSAI issued a notification regarding relating to revise limits of Selenium, Manganese, iron, and biotin for infant nutrition

December 18, 2022

Limits for Selenium, Manganese, Iron, and Biotin were amended in the above mentioned direction in response to industry association complaints about the difficulty in manufacturing and reformulating infant food products while maintaining the levels of these trace elements. The increased limitations of selenium, manganese, iron, and biotin must also be made operative in line with the pertinent sections of the Act because the Food Safety and Standards (Food for Infant Nutrition) Regulations, 2020 are in place as of October 1, 2022. As a result, it has been determined to implement the Food Safety and Standards (Foods for Infant Nutrition) Amendment Regulations, 2022 (attached as Annexure-1) with effect from October 1, 2022, in accordance with section 18(2)(d) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
